We’re excited to announce the appointment of our new jazz director Katy Lohse! Unfortunately, Emily-Anne Conaway, who was considering the position, had to turn down the appointment because her family is relocating to southern California. Katy will be working closely over the next few months with current jazz director, Christina Kitchen, before Christina heads to New York to dance professionally!
Katy is a long-time Sonoma County resident and multi-skilled dancer. She is trained in jazz, contemporary, hip hop and ballet, and brings an array of technique and choreographic skills to our jazz program. Katy has a psychology degree from Sonoma State University with a minor in theatre arts and dance. She has danced professionally, traveling and performing in Italy, as well as teaching at local high schools. She is a part of RAW, the San Francisco resident artist workshop where she performs with bay area dancers. An added plus – she has danced with director Christina Kitchen for many years, which will make for a smooth transition for our jazz dancers and company members. We’re very excited to welcome Katy! Come meet her at auditions this weekend!!
